Meet Zorsy

Julian ‘Zorsy’ Sanchez is a music composer, producer and performer specialising in digital fusion and ambitious jazz arrangements. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Julian’s passion for music and gaming began at an early age through his initial reluctance to practice his instruments in favour of completing the latest Nintendo games. This has foreshadowed Julian’s today where he has successfully fused both of his worlds together, having worked on musical arrangements for Nintendo Switch titles such as Boomerang Fu, Vitamin Connection and the animated Steven Universe: The Movie.

A classically trained pianist, Julian spent equal amounts of his teen years embarking on journeys within Japanese role-playing games, thus exposing him to the sights and sounds of these worlds. Through these synergies began his interest in performing and composing music for the video game medium as part of his own adventure. Procuring his own musical stats in the video game music world eventually began with exploring classical music, and the spontaneity of jazz thanks to his high school upbringing. This would eventuate to the co-founding of video game band ‘The Consouls’; a band that to this day are pushing the art forms of video games and jazz.

Upon graduating at the University of Technology, Sydney with a Bachelors of Music and Sound Design, Julian rose to become a prominent Australian musician, through live events, as well as in the studio as a composer. This has led to opportunities such as performing with Estelle for San Diego Comic Con 2019, and various tours across Indonesia/Japan with The Consouls, and his original jazz fusion project. All of these experiences culminated to composing for his first game Kana Quest, with many other games under his belt.

When not indulging his passions within the music scene of his whereabouts or behind his portable studio (now residing at Messiah Studios), Julian likes to compete in various Smash/FGC tournaments, climb rocks and eat cookies. For more on that… Twitter.
